Issue

Why do the PelcoNets lose video, freeze up, and take so long to PTZ control a camera?

Product Line

Pelco Transmission & Power

Environment

  • Net350
  • Net300
  • Net350T
  • Net300T

Cause

This can happen due to bandwidth or latency problems on the network which links the devices.

Resolution

Recommend the following:

  1. Lower all video quality and frame rate settings. (Setup > MPEG-4 video settings)
  2. Change the network streams to use UDP (Setup > Network Settings > Video/Audio Transmission:)
  3. Bandwidth throttle the transmissions. (Setup > MPEG-4 video settings > Datarate:)

Generally these settings are changed until an improvement is noticed, another way to troubleshoot this is to start at a very low setting like Preset Parameter name - DSL and work your way up.  Once performance starts to degrade, then back down a bit.

Note: To change the frame rate adjust the Frame skip ratio, number values - 1 = 30FPS | 2 = 15FPS | 3 = 10FPS | 4 = 7.5FPS | 5 = 6FPS.
