DS ControlPoint connecting to a DMS enterprise system receives a Argument number is not a valid value.

Issue

When connecting to a DMS system using DS ControlPoint client, a error message "Argument number is not a valid value" is received.

Cause

The user account DS ControlPoint is using to connect does not have any Assigned Rights.

Resolution

  1. Navigate to START > Programs > Pelco > DSAdmin
  2. Login with an administrator account
  3. Click on User Administration
  4. Highlight the DS ControlPoint user in the Users window, then click the User Rights tab.
  5. Select user rights from the Available Rights window and add them to the Assigned Rights window to give access.
  6. Click Save and exit DSAdmin.
