You will need to use the COM 2 port if your system includes an ASCII control device, such as a personal computer, access control console, or a keyboard that is connected via dial-up lines or fiber optic network.
CM6700-MXB2/4 port interface at COM 2 can be either RS-232 or RS-422/485.
Installation or network upgrade.
- If you require an RS-232 port interface, connect wires from the RS-232 device to the COM 2 terminals at the back of the SCU. Refer to Figure 17.
- If you require an RS-422/485 port interface, connect wires from the RS-422 device to the COM 2 terminals at the back of the SCU. Refer to Figure 18.
Note: The CM6700 COM 2 is configured at the factory for RS-422 via internal dip switch settings of SW5
Note: The ASCII protocol communicates in a standard asynchronous, byte-oriented protocol that includes: 1 start bit, 8 data bits, 1 parity bit (odd parity), and 1 stop bit. The communication rate is 9600 baud.
