Moving recorded video to a network drive.

When creating the network share within the NAS server the following criteria must be met:
  • A user account named DSNVSUser with read, write, and delete permissions must be granted access to the share, password is Pelco123
  • The DSNVSUser account on the NAS server must use the same password as the DSNVSUser on the DigitalSENTRY server.

To add network storage to a DS System follow these steps:

  1. Open DSAdmin from the Desktop or from Start>Programs and log in as the Administrator account.
  2. Expand Available Systems on the site tree.
  3. Select Network Storage.

  4. Select Add Storage Location not in list button.

  5. Enter the network drives path (ie: \\NetworkBackupdrives\d) on Drive UNC Share Name box.

  6. Enter the minimum amount of free space or leave default on the Minimum Free Megabytes box ( Default: 5120MB).
  7. Leave Use Caching checked.
  8. Select Save.
  9. Check Activate Storage Location, then select Save.
  10. Go to the VAU(s) Folder and select the VAU name (Computer Name).

  11. Select the Storage Locations Tab.

  12. Select network path under Network Storage Locations.
  13. Check Copy To Network Storage Locations check box.

Important: Verify at least one local storage drive is checked "Activate Storage Location", when the "Copy To Network Storage Locations" is enabled, video is first cached to a local drive and then moved to the network location.
  14. Close DS Admin and restart the DS Video Server Service or reboot the DS Server.
  15. Verify that your network storage location shows online by opening DS Admin.
  16. Go to the VAU(s) Folder and select the VAU name (Computer Name).

  17. Select the Storage Locations Tab.

  18. Select network path under Network Storage Locations.
  19. Verify that Selected Drive shows online.

Once network storage is enabled the system will move all video from the local storage drives to the network share starting with the oldest video. Once all video has been moved, the DS system will move video every 15 minutes or 1GB file size whichever comes first.

Important Note: If copy to network storage location is active and there are no network locations defined, the DigtialSENTRY video server will stop recording when all local storage locations have filled up.
