How to configure a DX4700/DX4800(HD) HVR for PTZ control.

Issue

Setup PTZ control for Pelco Coaxitron or 2 wire control on the DX4700/DX4800(HD).

Cause

Programming Information for DX4700/DX4800 HVR.

Resolution

The DX4700HD/DX4800HD supports up to 16 serial analog PTZ cameras. Multiple PTZ cameras can be connected and controlled individually by daisy-chaining the camera connections. The unit also allows you to assign each camera a PTZ control address. For IP cameras, the PTZ control settings are configured at the IP camera.

Settings for Coaxitron control: (Requires Coax cable only)

  1. Logon to the DX4700/DX4800 as admin by clicking the person icon on the tool bar. Default login admin/admin
  2. Click the gear icon for Setup on the tool bar on the left hand side.
  3. Click the Camera icon.
  4. Click PTZ.
  5. Select the Channel for PTZ configuration.
  6. Set Port to Coaxitron.
  7. Leave Control ID default.
  8. Set Protocol to Pelco_C  (NOTE - Pelco C supports 32-BIT (EXTENDED) COAXITRON NOT 15-BIT (STANDARD) COAXITRON.)
  9. Leave Baud Rate default.
  10. Exit out and Save changes.

 
Settings for 2 wire PTZ control: (Requires coax cable and 2 wires)

  1. Logon to the DX4700/DX4800 as admin by clicking the person icon on the tool bar. Default login admin/admin
  2. Click the gear icon for Setup on the tool bar on the left hand side.
  3. Click the Camera icon.
  4. Click PTZ.
  5. Select the Channel for PTZ configuration.
  6. Set Port to Data 1 or Data 2 depending on which port is being used on the back of the recorder.
  7. Set Control ID to the correct address that the PTZ camera is set to.
  8. Set Protocol to the correct protocol the camera requires.
  9. Set Baud Rate to the required baud rate for the camera.
  10. Exit out and save changes.
