How to Increase the TTL of the SM5000 Locator

Issue

Devices are visible in Endura Utilities, but are not synced and registered.

Product Line

Pelco Video Management

Environment

Endura IP Video Management System

Cause

By default, Endura Utilities sends out discovery packets with a time to live (TTL) of 10. That means that the packets it sends out to discover devices can traverse up to nine routers before expiring. Locator packets sent from the SM5000, however, have a TTL of four. That means that if your cameras are more than three hops away from the SM5000, they cannot register or sync with the SM5000 by default.

Resolution

  1. Open Endura Utilities
  2. Select the Devices tab.
  3. Expand the SM5000Locator category and all sub-categories.
  4. Select Endura System Manager Locator
  5. Within the right pane, select the Pelco Configuration tab, and then the Configuration sub-tab.
  6. Increase SSDP TTL. (The default value is 4.)
  7. Press Apply.
