DigitalSentry: Using DS QuickSetup to configure both new and existing systems.

Issue

  • First time installing DSSRV.
  • Need to add a new IP camera to DS.
  • Updated the DS software and DS QuickSetup prompts launches.

Environment

Cause

New or exsisting configuration changes need to be applied to DS.

Resolution

DS QuickSetup is the recommend utility to configure a DS system.

New Setup:

  1. Run DS Quick Setup (Start > All Programs > Pelco > DS Quick Setup)
  2. Click Next
  3. Select New Setup (This is for new configurations with no previuous recorded video to save, if you do not need video then you can continue.)
  4. Verify Computer Settings (computer name can be changed here, if using more then one NIC, select the NIC which is connected to the client computer network).
  5. Click Next
  6. Verify Storage Locations (It is not recommended to use the C drive for storage).
  7. Click Next
  8. Select Recording Type
  9. Enter IP Camera License Information
  10. Checkmark Record for IP Cameras that will be recorded
  11. Enter Recording configuration parameters per camera (confirm user and password is correct)
  12. Confirm Configuration information
  13. Click Next
  14. Change Admin password if desired
  15. Click Finish

 

Existing Setup

  1. Run DS Quick Setup (Start > All Programs > Pelco > DS Quick Setup)
  2. Click Next
  3. Select Add/Remove IP Camera - Keep Existing Configuration
  4. Checkmark the IP Camera you wish to add
  5. Uncheck the IP Camera that is to be removed (if any) or place a checked on the IP camera(s) that needs to be added.

    NOTE: When adding a new IP camera the following settings will also need to be configured.

    Quality: Compresion, Resolution, Frame Rate, and Quality
    PTZ: Enable, Type, Control Mode and Camera Address
    Authentication: Must be a valid user and password configured at the camera (default is admin/admin), Click on Validate.
    Recording: None, Continous Recording, Event Based Recording
    Motion: In Camera (Recommended), Server (CPU Intensive), No Motion Detection, Motion Sensitivity and Motion Area.
    Audio: Enable Audio Recording, Audio Port number.
     
  6. Click Next
  7. Verify Configuration Information
  8. Click Next
  9. Click Finish
