DS1000 Capture card (ECP240) driver fails to install after running recovery.

Issue

1. After running recovery, the  ECP240-16/32 driver does not get installed.
2. Replacing an ECP240-32 card and Windows does not automatically install the driver.

  • Digital Sentry DS1000
  • ECP24016/32 driver

Cause

DS1000 ECP240 driver fails to update due to driver signing incorrectly.

Resolution

Verify that the ECP240 Multimedia Video Controller driver is not installed:

Step 1.

  1. Right click on MY COMPUTER and select Manage
  2. On the left side, click Device Manager
  3. Find and highlight the Multimedia Video Controller


     
  4. Right Click and select Update Driver
  5. Choose Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next


     
  6. Choose Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install, click Next
  7. On the left side, click on DVR Devices, and click Next
  8. On the right side, highlight the ECP240-32 driver, and click Next
  9. When the wizard asks for the ECPSVD.sys file, click browse
  10. Navigate to the following directory (C:/Windows/System32/Drivers)
  11. Inside the drivers folder you will see the ECPSVD.sys file. Highlight it, click Open, and click OK.
  12. This should finish the wizard and the device should be properly installed.


     

To test the results, you should now see a category in Device Manager named DVR-Devices, expand the group you should see the ECP240-32 Driver.

To verify the card is working properly, you can use the DS RealVUE Diagnostic Tool to make sure video shows up.

NOTE: If step 1 fails proceed to step 2.

Step: 2

  1. Download ECP240 Drivers
  2. Extract the contents of the zip file
  3. Navigate to C:/Windows/System32/Drivers
  4. Copy the downloaded ECPSVD.sys file to the Drivers folder (If prompted to replace existing file say "Yes")
  5. Right click on MY COMPUTER and select Manage
  6. On the left side, click Device Manager
  7. Find and highlight the ECP240-32 Driver (called MULTIMEDIA DEVICE when no driver is installed)


     
  8. Right Click and select Update Driver
  9. Choose Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next


     
  10. Choose Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install and click Next.


     
  11. On the left side, click on DVR Devices.
  12. On the right side, highlight the ECP240-32 Driver
  13. Click NEXT
  14. When the wizard asks for the ECPSVD.sys file, click browse
  15. Navigate to the following directory (C:/Windows/System32/Drivers)
  16. Inside the drivers folder you will see the ECPSVD.sys file, highlight it and click OK.


     
  17. This should finish the wizard and the device should be properly installed.


     

To test the results, you should now see a category in device manager named DVR-Devices, expand the group you should see the ECP240-32 Driver.

Note: If both steps 1 and 2 fail Pelco recommends running a recovery or replacing capture card.
