The unit's internal time can be synchronized with an external time source using the Network Time Protocol (NTP) configuration option.

The unit allows you to configure the following settings:

  • NTP: When selected, allows you to configure a NTP server to which the HVR's internal time is synchronized.
NOTE: If the NTP option is set to ON, the Date/Time option is unavailable.
  • Server: Allows you to select a public or private NTP server. The default setting is PUBLIC SERVER. If you select a public NTP server, the HVR computes the average time from five public servers: time.nist.gov, time-a.nist.gov, timeb. nist.gov, ntp.nasa.gov, and clock.isc.org.
  • Private Time Server: Allows you to enter the IP address of a private NTP server. The server must be set to PRIVATE SERVER before you can enter an IP address.
  • Sync. interval: Specifies how often the HVR synchronizes with the NTP server: daily (1 DAY), weekly (1 WEEK), monthly (1 MONTH), or hourly (1 HOUR). The default setting is 1 DAY.
  • NTP Test: Verifies network access to the NTP server.
