Duplicate cameras in the Endura NSM5200 web interface

Issue

  • Duplicate cameras in the Endura NSM5200 web interface
  • Duplicate cameras in the associated list in this case causes NSD services to continuously restart across the entire pool.

Resolution

Method 1

1. Verify this particular problem by looking at the devices file on the NSM5200

1.1 In a web browser enter the NSM5200's IP address followed by :10000/devices. Example: http://192.168.5.20:10000/devices

1.2 Find the duplicate friendly names of the cameras and compare the device id tags

1.3 For this particular issue, one of them will only show the uuid number and will be missing the service id   

Typical camera device id: device id="uuid:fa0d1ca7-9b23-4175-9b9b-c5cbc95420d8/urn:pelco-com:serviceId:VideoOutput-1"

Non typical camera device id: device id="uuid:fa0d1ca7-9b23-4175-9b9b-c5cbc95420d8"

2. Remove the non typical camera device using Endura Utilities.

2.1 Copy the uuid number from the non typical device id, including the "uuid:". Example: uuid:fa0d1ca7-9b23-4175-9b9b-c5cbc95420d8

2.2 Log into Endura Utilities with the Pelco internal-only Administrator login credentials

2.3 Right click the NSM5200 and select Internal Macros

2.4 Select NSM Delete Device

2.5 Paste the uuid in the text box provided and click the OK button.

3. Verify the duplicate camera has been removed.

3.1 Right click the NSM5200 in Endura Utilities and select Open Web Interface

3.2 Login with the default password, admin.

3.3 On the NSM Pool page, click the Refresh cameras button to refresh the camera list on the NSM5200 web interface.

 

Method 2
If the duplicate camera(s) are not successfully removed using above Method 1, use these steps instead.
note: In this example, the duplicate camera we will delete is uuid:b36a5b78-e7a0-b430-bc86-91cd7f05f704.

  1. Enter the networkconfig database:
    /usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql -U pelco -p 5490 networkconfig
     
  2. From postgresq prompt, find the database primary key value for the camera in question:
    select * from device where id ilike '%uuid:b36a5b78-e7a0-b430-bc86-91cd7f05f704%';

    note: We are looking for the device_pk value of the duplicate entry, which will not contain any "VideoOutput" or "AudioOutput" verbiage at the end.
     
  3. Now delete the this entry using its device_pk:
    delete from device where device_pk=220;
     
  4. Quit out of postgres:
    \q
     
  5. Restart the nsxd service:
    service nsxd restart
