Booting directly into Windows 2000 on the DX7100.

Cause

Exiting to Windows to change or modify desktop resolution settings.

Resolution

Setting the DX7100 to boot to Windows 2000 GUI

  1. Click Exit in the DX7100 Software the system will Shutdown
  2. Using the front switch power the DX7100 back on
  3. Press F8 during system startup
  4. At the Windows Startup menu select Safe mode with Command Prompt Only
  5. Wait for Windows 2000 to load
  6. Type in Regedit
  7. Press Enter
  8. Select HKEY LOCAL MACHINE > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > WINDOWSNT >CURRENT VERSION > WINLOGON
  9. On the right side of the screen double-click Shell
  10. In Value Data delete C:\DX7100S\INIT.exe
  11. In the now blank Value Data enter Explorer.exe
  12. Click Ok
  13. Restart the system by doing a power cycle

     

Restoring the DX7100 Software GUI from Windows 2000

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type in Regedit
  4. Press Enter
  5. Select HKEY LOCAL MACHINE > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > WINDOWSNT . CURRENT VERSION > WINLOGON
  6. On the right side of the screen double-click Shell
  7. In Value Data type C:\DX7100S\INIT.exe
  8. Click Ok
  9. Restart the system by doing a power cycle
