How to configure an Endura device with a static IP address back to DHCP

Issue

An Endura device needs to be set to DHCP

Environment

  • All Endura devices, excluding Sarix based cameras.
  • Endura utilities version 2.3.13

Cause

An Endura device needs to be set back to DHCP

Resolution

Method 1:

1. Log into Endura Utilities using your admin login [Default username: admin, password: admin]

2. Right click the device that needs to be set to DHCP

3. Select Device Actions

4. Select Reset to DHCP

 

Method 2:

1. Log into Endura Utilities using your admin login [Default username: admin, password: admin]

2. Right click the device in Endura Utilities and select SSH into [Default username: root, password: pel2899100]

3. Edit the ifcfg-eth0 file by entering vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

4. In the vi editor press the "i" key to switch to INSERT mode.

5. Change the contents of the file to look like the following:

DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
ONBOOT=yes

6. Leave INSERT mode by pressing the Esc key.

7. Save and quit out of the vi editor by entering :wq (To close without saving enter :q!)

8. Enter reboot to force the device to request a DHCP address.
