How do I change the IP address on the DSSRV / DSSRV2 or the DS NVs?

Issue

 What is the process for changing the IP address on the DSSRV recorder.

Cause

The network IP address required by the DSSRV recorder has changed and needs to be updated in the Windows and the software.

Resolution

  1. Stop the DigitalSENTRY video services:

    1. Click on START and then type in services.msc and press [ENTER] (On DSSRV's running image version 7.4.320 or later, click START > Services icon in the startup menu.)
       
    2. Right-click and Stop the following services:
      • DigitalSENTRY WatchDog
      • DigitalSENTRY VideoServer Service
      • DigitalSENTRY Storage Service
         
    3. Minimize the Services window.

       
  2. Update the DS Admin configuration utility:

    1. Click on START > All Programs > Pelco > DS Admin
       
    2. Log in using a administrator account (default = admin,admin)
       
    3. Click directly on the system name under Available Systems like a hyperlink, verify that the TCP/IP Address field is 127.0.0.1 or the new IP address and click Save.
       
    4. Expand the VAU folder and click directly on the system name below like a hyperlink (computer icon.)
       
    5. Select the VAU Info tab in the right hand window.
       
    6. Update the TCP/IP Address with the new IP address and click Save.
       
    7. Once the system has completed saving the new setting, close the DS Admin utility.

       
  3.  Configure the Network Adapter in Windows.

    1. Click on START and then type in view network connections and press [Enter].
       
    2. Right-click the Local Area Connection and select Properties.
       
    3. Highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click on the Properties button.
       
    4. Verify "Use the following IP address:" is selected and then add the new IP address settings in the appropriate fields.
       
    5. When finished click OK > Close (if asked to select a network, select Work.)
       
    6. Close the Network Connection Window.
       
    7. Make sure the system's network port is plugged in and the network link is good.

       
  4.  Start the DigitalSENTRY services:

    1. Click on START and then type in services.msc and click [ENTER] button.
       
    2. Right-click and Start the following services:
      • DigitalSENTRY WatchDog
      • DigitalSENTRY VideoServer Service
      • DigitalSENTRY Storage Service
         
    3. Close the Services Window.
