Cause

Create Two Raid 5 Arrays on a DX9200HDDI

Resolution

To configure two RAIDS Level 5 Arrays:
 

  1. On the DX9200HDDI control panel, do the following
  2. Press the CTRL button. The TO CONTROLLER PRESS ANY KEY message is displayed on the LCD screen.
  3. Press the Check Mark button. The Enter Password prompt is displayed.
  4. Press the Check Mark button to enter 00000000 (default password).
  5. Press the Check Mark button. The Main menu is displayed.
  6. Configure Array 1, Press Up/Down arrow button and scroll to 2 RAID Params.
  7. Press the Check Mark button. The 2 RAID Params menu is displayed.
  8. Press Up/Down arrow button and scroll to 21 array 1.
  9. Press the Check Mark button The 21 Array 1 menu is displayed.
  10. Press Up/Down arrow button and scroll to 211 Re-Conf RAID.
  11. Press the Check Mark button. The 211 Re-Conf RAID menu is displayed.
  12. Press Up/Down arrow button to scroll to YES.
  13. Press the Check Mark button to select YES. The entry is confirmed and the 21 Array 1 menu item is redisplayed.
  14. Select the RAID Level for the array, Press Up/Down arrow button to scroll to 212 RAID Level.
  15. Press the Check Mark button. The 212 RAID Level menu is displayed.
  16. Press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to 5
  17. Press the Check Mark button to select 5. The 21 Array 1 menu item is redisplayed.
  18. Specify the number of hard drives in array 1, by Calculate the number of drives in each array by dividing the total number of drives installed by two. For example, if the total number of
    hard drives is 12, then 12/2 = 6 hard drives per array.
  19. From the 21 Array 1 menu, press Up/Down arrow button  to scroll to 213 Disk Number.
  20. Press the Check Mark button The 213 Disk Number menu is displayed.
  21. Press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to the number of disks for array 1.
    • For example, if there are 12 hard drives installed and the RAID level is 5, select 6. By default, the total number of drives is divided evenly between array 1 and array 2.
  22. Press the Check Mark button to select the number of disks for array 1.
  23. Press Exit until the Main menu is displayed.
  24. Configure array 2, Press the Up/Down arrow and scroll to 2 RAID Params.
  25. Press the Check Mark button The 2 RAID Params menu is displayed.
  26. Press the Up/Down arrow button  to scroll to 22 Array 2.
  27. Press  the Check Mark button The 22 Array 2 menu is displayed.
  28. Press   the Up/Down arrow button  and scroll to 221 Re-Conf RAID. 
  29. Press the Check Mark button  The 221 Re-Conf RAID menu is displayed.
  30. Press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to YES.
  31. Press the Check Mark button to select YES. The entry is confirmed and the 22 Array 2 menu is redisplayed.
  32. Select the RAID Level for the array 2, Press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to 222 RAID Level.
  33. Press the Check Mark button  The 222 RAID Level menu is displayed.
  34. Press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to 5.
  35. Press the Check Mark button to select 5. The 22 Array 2 menu is redisplayed.
  36. Specify the number of hard drives in the array 2,  From the 22 Array 2 menu, press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to 223 Disk Number.
  37. Press the Check Mark button The 223 Disk Number menu is displayed.
  38. Press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to the number of disks for array 2.
    • For example, if there are 12 hard drives installed and the RAID level is 5, select 6. By default, the total number of drives is divided
      evenly between array 1 and array 2.
  39. Press the Check Mark button to select the number of drives. The 22 Array 2 menu is redisplayed.
  40. Update the NVRAM with the new settings,  Press Exit until the Main menu is displayed.
  41. Press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to 6 NVRAM.
  42. Press the Check Mark button The 6 NVRAM menu is displayed.
  43. Press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to 61 Update NVRAM.
  44. Press the Check Mark button The 61 Update NVRAM menu is displayed.
  45. Press the Up/Down arrow button to scroll to YES.
  46. Press the Check Mark button to select YES. The 6 NVRAM menu is redisplayed
  47. Start the initialization process, Press the Up/Down arrow button  to scroll to 63 Restart.
  48. Press  the Check Mark button The 63 Restart menu is displayed.
  49. Press the Up/Down arrow button  to scroll to YES.
  50. Press the Check Mark button to select YES. The initialization process starts.
    • The number of drives installed, any empty bays, and the RAID initialization status are displayed in the DX9200HDDI window. The array
      initialization process starts and may take several hours to complete.
