Formatting a GPT Protective Partition in DX8100 with Windows XP.

Issue

Disk Management in DX8100 shows a new storage drive as GPT protective partition.

Cause

GPT partitions are not supported in Windows XP.

Resolution

To format a GPT protection partition in DX8100 with Windows XP follow these steps:

  1. Open Command window (Start > Run > cmd).


     
  2. In the cmd window type > diskpart.
  3. Verify the list with your disks shows the total number of disk(s).
  4. Select the appropriate disk number for your disk as shown in the disk list.
    • Example: disk 0, Partition 1, Volume 3, or volume C
       
  5. Type the clean disk command to erase all information on the disk (type > clean).
  6. Tap the ENTER button.
