Configure Digital Sentry software to select the correct driver for a connected Axis IP encoder.

Issue

No PTZ control in DS ControlPoint or DS Admin when attempting to PTZ a camera which is connected to an Axis Q7404 IP encoder

Cause

Incorrect encoder driver configured in DS Admin > Camera > PTZ tab > PTZ Type:

Resolution

Configure DS Admin to use the Axis IPServer driver as the PTZ Type:
 

  1. Open DS Admin (Start > All Programs > Pelco > DS Admin)
     
  2. Login with an administrator account (default = user: admin pass: admin)
     
  3. Expand the Cameras folder and select the Axis IP encoder camera which requires PTZ control.
     
  4. Click on the PTZ tab.
     
  5. Check the box next to Enable PTZ support for this camera.
     
  6. Click on the Get Types button and then click the dropdown arrow next to PTZ Type:
     
  7. Select Axis IPServer in the list and then click the Save button. 


     
  8. Open the DS ControlPoint client software, select the PTZ camera and then click the Joystick icon at the top of the display.  Test and verify PTZ control.



    Note: The Axis encoder may require Pelco PTZ drivers to be uploaded to the encoder. Please see Axis website for a complete list of supported devices, and to obtain the correct driver.Protocol, Baud Rate, and Device ID will need to be configured on the encoder thru a browser.  The PTZ camera will need to be setup to match the encoder's settings for PTZ control.
