DigitalSENTRY VideoServer service fails to start with Error 1067 when using Antivirus/Malware prevention software.

Issue

DigitalSENTRY video server service does not start on DS systems when using Antivirus/Malware prevention software.

Microsoft Event Viewer - Application:
MSSQL$DS_MSSQLSERVER | Logon | ID 18452 | Description: Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. [CLIENT: 127.0.0.1]

MSSQL$DS_MSSQLSERVER | Logon | ID 17806 | Description: SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c, state 14 while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. Reason: AcceptSecurityContext failed. The Windows error code indicates the cause of failure. [CLIENT: 127.0.0.1]

Cause

Antivirus & Malware security software blocking localhost routing using the Windows host file.

Cause Host File

Resolution

Locate the Windows host file and delete the hashtag preventing loopback address resolution to localhost.

  1. On the system running the DigitalSENTRY Software Suite,  go to Start > Programs > Accessories
     
  2. Right click on Notepad and Run as Administrator
     
  3. If the prompt to allow the following program to make changes to this computer select Yes
     
  4. In notepad select File > Open
     
  5. Click on Computer
     
  6. Click on (C:) drive
     
  7. Double-click on the Windows folder
     
  8. Double-click the System32 folder
     
  9. Double-click the Drivers folder
     
  10. Double-click the etc folder
     
  11. At the document type dropdown select All Files *.*

    All Files
     
  12. Click on the hosts file

    Host file directory
     
  13. Click Open
     
  14. Remove the hashtag from the 127.0.0.1 localhost line entry

    Host File Edit
     
  15. Click File > Save
     
  16. Close the host file
     
  17. Go to Start  > Run (Search for Windows 7) > Type in Services.msc
     
  18. Right-click DigitalSENTRY Video Server Service
     
  19. Select Start
