DX4700HD/DX4800HD stops recording motion detection events from Axis IP camera after camera firmware update.

Issue

After updating an Axis Q1921 IP camera from firmware 5.20.2 to 5.50.2, motion stops triggering on a DX4800HD recorder.

Cause

Communication failure between the Axis IP camera and the DX4700HD/DX4800HD recorder.

Resolution

Restart the DX4700/DX4800HD recorder

  1. Shutdown the DX4700HD/DX4800HD HVR by pressing and holding the power button until the login prompt appears.
  2. Enter the 'admin' account credentials and click OK, this will power the unit down. 
  3. Wait 30 seconds and then press and hold the power button until the LED's come on, then release.
  4. Verify motion detection events are being triggered again by the DVR.
     

Note: Motion detection settings are configured in the Axis IP cameras web interface. Once the Axis camera is configured to detect motion, configure a schedule in the DX4700/DX4800HD for the IP input to = Motion (blue) or Continuous and Motion (Blue/Green).
