Patterns Stopping on Spectra Mini IP Cameras

Issue

Patterns executed on a Spectra Mini IP stop at random times.

Environment

Spectra Mini IP, version 1.02.0015 and newer

Cause

SNMP messages from a third-party monitoring program are causing the camera to pause execution of the pattern.

Resolution

Disable SNMP in the camera. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Type in the IP address of the camera in your Web browser's address bar and press ENTER.
  2. Type in the user name and password for the camera.
  3. Click on Settings in the upper-right corner of the live-view screen.
  4. Click on the SNMP tab.
  5. Uncheck the Enable SNMP v2c and Enable SNMP v3 check boxes and then click on the Save button. Once complete, the SNMP settings tab should look like the figure below:

To diagnose the issue, open Wireshark and start a packet capture using the steps outlined in Lessons Learned Entry 5133. Then, type snmp in the filter box while the capture is running and press ENTER, as shown in Figure 2, below. Look for any SNMP packets being sent to or from the cameras in question.
