Allow a user to capture and share a single live image but not export recorded video.
Pelco Video Management
DS administrators need to restrict a client user to be able to save and transmit a single frame of live image without having the ability to export recorded video through DS ControlPoint.
Modify User Rights settings in DS Admin.
The User Rights that gives a user the ability to view and search recorded video files is:
- Recorded Video Viewer - Gives access to view archived video files through the Search feature of DS ControlPoint
There are two User Rights settings that will give a user the ability to export a single frame of live video:
- Print User - Allows the user to save a single live frame to a .XPS file format or print to a printer or fax machine.
- Export User - Allows the user to use the Snapshot feature that saves a single live frame into a variety of media formats. This also allows exporting recorded video if the Recorded Video Viewer right is assigned with it.
OPTION 1: To allow a user to save a single live frame but prevent viewing or exporting recorded video, assign the Print User and/or Export User, but do not assign the Recorded Video Viewer User Rights. The Search feature button will be shown in DS ControlPoint, but it will be disabled. The Print and Snapshot features will be enabled.
OPTION 2: To allow a user to view recorded video without exporting it but still save or print a single live frame, assign the Recorded Video Viewer and Print User rights, but do not assign the Export User right. This will allow a user to view and search through recorded video files, but not export them. This will enable the Print feature but disable the Snapshot feature.
For additional information on the Snapshot and other features in DS ControlPoint please refer to New Features and changes for DS ControlPoint.
