Can an Automation Server operate as a device on a third party BACnet MSTP network?

Issue

Can an Automation Server operate as an MSTP Slave on a third party BACnet MSTP network?

Product Line

SmartStruxure Solution

Environment

BACnet MSTP

MS/TP

Cause

A third party system may want to connect to an AS as a MSTP Slave device on their network, is this supported by the AS?

Resolution

An Automation Server operating as a device on a third party BACnet MSTP network is NOT a supported solution.

An MSTP network needs to be managed and usually accessed from a network master, the AS is designed to be that device.
The Automation Server is supported as the management and routing device for an MSTP network.

From the PIC's statement the AS will operate as a MSTP Master.
