Environment

  • Digital Sentry
  • DS NVs
  • DSSRV / DSSRV2
  • DVD-+R / DVD-RW
  • CD-R / CD-RW
  • DS Media Player (IMedia.exe)
  • Audio

Cause

The slow seek time and rotational delay of the DVD drives.

Resolution

It is not recommended to playback EXE or XPA native file formats directly from optical media due to the slow seek times, these formats are heavily dependent on the playback media's seek time for smooth playback.

Workaround:

  • Copy the EXE or XPA file from the optical DVD media to the local hard drive (desktop -  C:\ drive...etc) or to flash media such as a USB flash drive.
  • Allow the video to playback at normal speed after opening without operating the scrub bar or other fast-forward, pause..etc features.
  • Export the video clip in the AVI file format (does not support audio).
