DHCP Service on Windows Server shows red - symbol and does not allow configuration options such as NTP Server.

VideoXpert MongoDB installation adds service entries to the "c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts" file, causing a bug in the Windows Server DHCP Applet.


To fix...

  1. Add a localhost entry into c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts using the ipv4 IP Address of the primary network interface, as seen here...
    note: Text editor must be ran with elevated/administrator privileges to save changes to hosts.
  2. Re-open DHCP from Windows Control Panel > Administrative Tools, then right-click Server Options and select Configuration Options...

  3. Configure Option 042 to point to the appropriate NTP Server...
