Digital Sentry: DigitalSENTRY VideoServer Service fails to start. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.

Issue

Windows could not start the DigitalSENTRY Video Server Service service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.

The DigitalSENTRY VideoServer Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.

Cause

DigitalSENTRY Video Server service fails to start due to DSServiceUser not have sufficient rights to access SQL database.

Resolution

Verify that your DS version matches your database version > Launch DS Admin expand VAU and click on the system name.

 

Verify DSNVSUser and DSServiceUser are located in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

  1. Go to Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
  2. Select SQL Server Management Studio


     
  3. Login to Microsoft SQL Server using sa by changing the Authentication type to SQL Server Authentication
  4. Login = sa / password = LETmein333 (default)
  5. Expand Security > Logins
  6. Verify there are no accounts listed as hostname\DSNVSUser and hostname\DSServiceUser
  7. If you have the above user with the old hostname (computer name) delete these accounts.
  8. Add user accounts
    1. Right click on Logins > Select New Login
    2. In the Login name: click Search > Advanced > Find Now
    3. Locate and Select the DSNVSUser and click OK twice
    4. Select Server Roles and check sysadmin, leave public checked
    5. Select OK
    6. Right click on Logins > Select New Login
    7. In the Login name: click Search > Advanced > Find Now
    8. Locate and Select the DSServiceUser and click OK twice
    9. Select Server Roles and check sysadmin, leave public checked
    10. Select User Mapping, check DigitalSENTRY and FLLog
    11. Under Default Schema click on the three periods and type dbo, hit OK (do this for both DigitalSENTRY and FLLog)
    12. Select OK


       
  9. Restart the DigitalSENTRY Video Server Service
  10. If your service does not start, verify the WIndows User you are logging in with and add that user with the same rights as the DS ServiceUser. Also you can use Local System for the logon as for the service.
