SM5200: How to recreate the array after replacing both solid state drives.

Issue

  • After replacing a solid state drive(s) the unit is still inoperable.
  • SM5200 webui shows red LED's on both solid state drives
  • tw_cli does not show u0 RAID-1.
  • tw_cli shows " - " through p0 and p1.

Cause

The array is not functioning correctly and must be recreated.

Resolution

If the below steps are needed any data on the solid state / export drives will be lost. The array will be deleted and recreated.

  1. Power on the SM5200 and press Alt + 3 to access the 3ware BIOS Manager.
  2. Under Exportable Units use the arrow keys then go to the 2 Drives that say Mirror 111.74 GB and press spacebar. A asterisk will appear next to it.
  3. Press the Tab key on your keyboard and go to Delete Unit. Click Enter on your keyboard. Click OK.
  4. Under Exportable Units use the arrow keys then go to the Single 2.72 TB drive and press spacebar. A asterisk will appear next to it.
  5. Press the Tab key on your keyboard and go to Delete Unit. Click Enter on your keyboard. Click OK.
  6. Press spacebar next to the two solid state drives (Phy 0 and Phy 1). Asterisks will appear next to them both.
  7. Press the Tab key on your keyboard and go to Create Unit. Click Enter on your keyboard.
  8. Arrow down then click OK.
  9. Press n then click Enter.
  10. Press spacebar next to the export drive (Phy 2). A asterisk will appear next to it.
  11. Press the Tab key on your keyboard and go to Create Unit. Click Enter on your keyboard.
  12. Arrow down then click OK.
  13. Press n then click Enter.
  14. Press F8 to save your settings.
  15. Reimage the SM5200 and run ship prep using LL#11265.
