How to completely disable motion detection on a Digital Sentry video recorder.

Issue

Disable the motion detector for the Digital Sentry software.

Cause

Stop all motion detection so that the search results display green continuous recording only.

Resolution

Disable motion detect for IP cameras using either DS Quick Setup or DS Admin

DS Quick Setup

  1. Run the DS Quick Setup utility (Start > All Programs > Pelco > DS Quick Setup).
     
  2. Navigate by clicking Next until the option "Add/Remove IP Cameras - Keep Existing Configuration".
    1. Next
    2. Yes
    3. Select Add/Remove IP Cameras - Keep Existing Configuration
    4. Next
    5. Continuous Recording
    6. Next
    7. Highlight the camera you would like to change in the list.
    8. Click on the Motion tab, select No Motion Detection.


       
    9. Go through and change the setting for cameras which should be changed.
       
    10. Click Next and continue until the setup is completed

       

DS Admin

  1. Open DS Admin (Start > All Programs > Pelco > DS Admin)
     
  2. Login with an administrative account (default = admin,admin)
     
  3. Expand the folder structure and locate the Cameras folder.
     
  4. Click on the camera in the tree.
     
  5. Under the General tab, location the Motion Detection section and select None


     
  6. Click Save to save the configuration.
     
  7. Repeat for all cameras which require the change.




     

Disable motion detection for analog cameras connected to a ENC5416 or ENC5516.

  1. Open DS Admin (Start > All Programs > Pelco > DS Admin)

  2. Login with an administrative account (default = admin,admin)

  3. Expand the folder structure and locate the Cameras or Analog H264 Cameras folder.

  4. Click on the camera in the tree.

  5. Click on the Motion tab.

  6. Verify there is no mask being displayed and then click the Invert Mask button.

  7. The picture should now be completely masked and therefore stop all motion detection.

  8. Click Save to save the changes.

  9. Repeat for all analog cameras which require no motion detection.
