Product Line

Pelco Cameras, Pelco Video Management

Environment

  • Pelco Sarix based IP cameras.
  • VideoXpert
    • Ops Center Client

Cause

The secondary stream on the camera is not configured.

The secondary stream is configured to use MJPEG.

Resolution

When watching live video, cells 1/4 the size of the tab or larger will use the primary stream from a video source. Cells smaller than 1/4 the size the tab will use the secondary video stream. In a 2x2 layout, for example, all cells will use the primary stream. In a 1+12 tab, the largest cell will use the primary stream and the other twelve will use the secondary stream.

Configure the Secondary Stream and use h.264 compression.

  1. Access the web interface of the IP camera by opening a web browser and typing in the IP address in the address field, then ENTER.

  2. Click the "Login" link in the upper right, login using admin credentials (default = user: admin pass:admin)

Note: Some cameras do not require authentication, if authentication is not required a Settings link will be displayed instead of Login.

  3. Once logged in, click the Settings link to enter the settings menu.

  4.  Navigate to A/V Streams > Video Configuration.

  5. Configure the Secondary Stream Configuration to use H264 compression with a standard resolution.

Recommend using a lower resolution like 800x600 or 640x480 (actual resolution depends on camera model) because the secondary stream is only used by Ops Center Client when displayed in a small view pane.

  6. Ops Center may need to be refreshed by removing and re-adding the camera or close and reopen/reconnect..
