How do you edit the VideoXpert map and move a camera to another location?

Issue

Once a map has been created with cameras placed and then saved, VideoXpert mapping does not allow a camera to be moved to another location within the map.

Product Line

Pelco Video Management

Environment

  • VideoXpert platform version 1.11

Cause

Once cameras have placed on a map and the map has been saved, VideoXpert does not allow the client software to reposition the camera and save its new location.

Resolution

In order to change a camera's location within a previously created VideoXpert map, the camera must be removed from the map then added back at the desired location.  The following steps are the recommended method to modify a camera's location within a VideoXpert map:

  1. Make sure the admin, or other user in a role with sufficient privileges to modify maps, is logged into the Video Xpert Ops Center
  2. Launch mapping
    • In mission control, expand 'Plug-ins'
    • Click 'Content'
    • Click and drag 'Mapping' into a viewing pane (single-camera view may be best option)
    • Wait for the map to load
  3. When the maps load, select the desired map from the 'Map' drop-down list in the upper-left corner of the view pane
    • Make sure the check-box labeled "Show Cameras" is checked
  4. Click the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of the view pane to enter edit mode
  5. Click the camera to be moved to select it, then right-click it and select 'Remove Camera'
  6. Click 'Save'
  7. Click the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of the view pane to enter edit mode
  8. Expand the 'Cameras' list
  9. Click and drag the desired camera to the correct location on the map
    • If the 'Editing' pane overlays the part of the map where you want to place the camera, you can click the map image and drag it
    • When using a wheel mouse, you can scroll to zoom the map image
    • Once a camera has been placed on the map, its icon may be rotated to properly depict camera position/coverage angle
  10. Click 'Save'
