System operator needs to know how to operate PTZ cameras through the DS ControlPoint user interface.

Cause
After system configuration and deployment, the system operator is required to control PTZ cameras.
Resolution
There are two methods of controlling PTZ cameras within DS ControlPoint:

On-screen, click and drag, mouse controls:
- for best results, it is recommended to bring the camera up into a single-camera view

click the
icon to enable on-screen PTZ
- move the mouse over the camera's image
- click and hold the left mouse button while dragging the cursor
- the camera should move in the same direction as the mouse moves from the center of the image
- if the camera is a variable-speed model, the camera should move faster as the mouse is moved farther away from the center of the image
- some cameras and DX-series DVRs will not offer variable-speed movement, therefore they will move at the same speed regardless of how far the mouse is moved from the center of the image
- in order to use zoom functions, move the mouse close to the center of the image until the icons are displayed

when finished positioning the camera, click the
icon to disable on-screen mouse PTZ functions

On-screen arrows:
- for best results, it is recommended to bring the camera up into a single-camera view

click the
icon to bring up the PTZ Control tab at the bottom of the display - click the directional arrows to move the camera in the desired directions
- the speed slider can be used to adjust the speed of variable-speed cameras
- use the preset or pattern buttons to operate their respective functions
