Oncam EVO5 / EVO12: Fast-forwarding video skips a lot of frames making investigation difficult.


When using the fast-forward feature of a Pelco VMS (Digital Sentry / VideoXpert), the Oncam Grandeye EVO5 and EVO12s are jumping and skipping large amounts to time making review difficult.

Dynamic GOP (I-Frame interval) configure in the camera.


Change the GOP length the equal 2 I-Frames per second. When configured for the highest resolution, the GOP should be set to 5 for both cameras.


Change the GOP for EVO5

  1. Access the cameras web interface using a web browser and entering the IP address of the camera.
  2. If a prompt to login, login with user credentials (default = 'admin','admin')
  3. Select ADMIN
  4. Select Camera Settings
  5. Under Select Camera Type click on Fisheye
  6. Select Resolution and click on the desired resolution (4M Pixels)
  7. Select Stream select H.264
  8. Change the GOP Length: to = 5
  9. Select Save H.264 Settings




Change the GOP for EVO12

  1. Access the EVO12’s web interface and login.
  2. Select ADMIN menu
  3. Select Video Setup
  4. Under the Primary Stream (H.264) – Fisheye1 – Change the GOP = 5
  5. Select Apply Changes
