Digital Sentry: DSSRV2 randomly shutdowns or reboots to the message Reboot and Select proper Boot device...

  • The DSSRV2 recorder hard restarts and then gets stuck at the message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot device and press a key_".  Power cycling or restarting the unit returns it to operation but then eventually the failure is experienced again.  This can happen once every couple of weeks or several times a day.

SSD feature - DevSleep malfunction

The process outlined in this article will resolve issues related to the DevSleep malfunction on Intel 535 series SSD drives, there is no guarantee this process will 'fix' a failed SSD drive as other root cause problems could be at work.
Generally if the unit runs normally after a system restart until the next hard restart with ""Reboot and Select proper Boot device...", then there is a good chance the below process will resolve the issue.

Verify the internal SSD drive hardware

  1. Open Device Manager (Win + R key, type in devmgmt.msc)
  2. Expand the Disk drives catagory.
  3. Verify you see one of the impacted models below:
    • Intel SSD SC2BW120H6

  4. If you have one of the impacted Intel SSD drives, follow the below procedure.
