Resolution

To manually create a database:

  1. Login to Windows on the VxS unit. The default is [Username: pelco Password: Pel2899100].
  2. Launch the VideoXpert Storage Web Portal shortcut on the desktop. The default is [Username: admin Password: admin].
  3. Click the Database tab (Bullet #1 in the below screenshot). Click Create Database Backup (Bullet #2 in the below screenshot). Click Backup (Bullet #3 in the below screenshot).

  4. A message will appear stating Completed Database Backup (Bullet #1 in the below screenshot). You will see the database you just created in the list on the left (Bullet #2 in the below screenshot). Go to the location of your database backup. This is typically C:\ProgramData\Pelco\Storage\DatabaseBackup or D:\ProgramData\Pelco\Storage\DatabaseBackup. Whoever installed it could have also specified an entirely different location. Copy the latest file to a secure location.

To restore a database:

Important Notes: If the VxS is in a corrupt state you will need to uninstall it using LL#17817 then reinstall it.

  1. Login to Windows on the VxS unit. The default is [Username: pelco Password: Pel2899100].
  2. Launch the VideoXpert Storage Web Portal shortcut on the desktop. The default is [Username: admin Password: admin].
  3. Click the Database tab.

*NOTE: If a complete uninstall was performed, the list of Database Backups will be empty as shown below.

  4. In order to get any previously saved Database Backups to show up in the list, you need to copy the backup files to the DatabaseBackup directory which is typically located in (C:\ProgramData\Pelco\Storage\DatabaseBackup or D:\ProgramData\Pelco\Storage\DatabaseBackup). This could be different if you chose a different location to store backups.

  5. After you have copied over your newest backup file into the correct directory, log out of the VxS webpage and log back in to refresh it then click the Database tab.

  6. The Database backup file should now be displayed in the list as shown below (Bullet #1 in the below screenshot). Click on the Restore button next to the backup that you want to restore from (Bullet #2 in the below screenshot). Click Restore (Bullet #3 in the below screenshot).
*NOTE: This process will take approximately 5 - 10 minutes depending on the size of the system.

  7. A message indicating the restore was successful will appear. Click OK.

*NOTE: Any video files that are still on this VxS that were not included in the database backup will recover automatically in the background. This may take a few hours depending on how many files need to be recovered.
