Issue
A connection to a Niagara R2 station (UNC or Enterprise Server) using a web browser, is desired, without the pop-up window prompting for a username and password. Is there a way to incorporate this information into the URL?
Environment
- Niagara R2 station
- Web browser
Cause
Accessing Niagara R2 via web browser without entering username and password require \\[user]:[password]@[host]:[port] in the address bar of the web browser.
Resolution
In the Address Bar, type in the following: \\[user]:[password]@[host]:[port]
where:
[user] = the user name of the station
[password] = password used to log into the station
[host] = IP address or name of the desired station
[port] = the http port of the station (note: if using the default port of 80, the port number is not required)
NOTE: The ability to incorporate user name and passwords in a URL link is DISABLED by default in Internet Explorer versions 6 and later. In order to enable this feature, add the following to the Registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLE] "explorer.exe"=dword:00000000 "iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000 "SampleApp.exe"=dword:00000001
WARNING: Making incorrect Registry changes can cause serious problems that may require the re-installation of the operating system. If unfamiliar with making Registry changes, please contact Product Support Services for assistance.
