Issue

Why is the time on the VCD5000 displaying one hour ahead after Daylight Savings Time (DST) change?

Product Line

Pelco Video Management

Environment

Endura VCD5000- All versions

Cause

VCD5000 did not make appropriate changes to coincide with daylight savings.

Resolution

Try and resync the VCD using Utilities.

If that doesn't work perform the following task.

Putty into the VCD.

Change to the directory where timezone information is located:
cd /usr/share/zoneinfo

List the timezone regions
ls

Choose the most appropriate region:
For instance, if you live in the United States, choose "America" Also this text is case sensitive, you must type it exactly as it shows.
cd America

List the available timezones and find one that matches the timezone you are in:
ls

If you live in California, you would choose "Los_Angeles".

Delete the old timezone configuration:
rm -f /etc/localtime

Create a symbolic link from the appropriate timezone to /etc/localtime:
ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Los_Angeles /etc/localtime

Adjust the clock file to reflect the new time zone
vi /etc/sysconfig/clock
ZONE=America/Los_Angeles

*Note: This example uses "America/Los_Angeles", but you would change this to the actual
timezone region that you are located in.

Set the hardware clock by executing:
/sbin/hwclock --systohc

As a final step, restart the unit:
reboot
