Will the NSM5200 preserve recorded video if the failed operating system compact flash (CF) is replaced?

Issue

Will the NSM5200 preserve recorded video if the failed operating system Compact Flash card (CF) is replaced?

Product Line

Pelco Video Management

Environment

Endura NSM5200- All versions

Cause

Information on what occurs to the video after a reimage of the NSM5200 is needed.

Resolution

Yes. Recorded video is preserved. Pertinent information to the unit is stored on the RAID Array.

Before replacing the Compact Flash Card (CF), power off the NSM5200. Upon start up, the NSM will copy the information on the RAID Array to the new CF. The Pelco Part number for the CF is HA45-0109-0022.

Afterwards, the database will need to be synced to allow the pre-existing video to be played back from a workstation or VCD. Please see Lessons Learned Article #13319 on how to sync the database of the NSM5200 with the current video information.

note: If the NSM5200 is running version 2.1.7 or lower, video will not be retainable unless unit is first reimaged, as the CF card will come from the factory with a newer release version that is not compatible with v2.1.7 and lower video. To save video in this case, reimage the unit to version 2.1.7 or lower by following LL#11453 upon first boot-up with the new CF card.
