How do I find out how much hard drive is available in the DX4500/DX4600 Series DVR?
Pelco Video Management
DX4500/DX4600 Series digital video recorder (DVR)
Determine the available recording space before overriding the oldest video on the system.
The DX4500/DX4600 Series DVR supports hard disk capacities ranging from 250 gigabytes (GB) up to 8000GB.
Follow the steps below to determine the amount of hard disk capacity and total hard disk used:
- Login to the DVR local console with user, poweruser, or administrator privileges. The default credentials on the unit for the administrative account in Firmware revision 1.2 and below are user:ADMINISTRATOR, password:000000. For firmware revision 1.3 and above, the default administrative account credentials is user: admin password:admin.
- Using the mouse, Click the "System Information" button on the bottom toolbar (which appears as a lowercase i inside of a circle) and look for the hard disk section of the system information dialog box.
For more information, see pages 110-111 of the DX4500/DX4600 Operation/Configuration Manual.
NOTE: Pelco DVR Systems Operate using FIFO Protocol (First In, First Out), which means that as time progresses, and new video data is recorded, it makes room for itself by overriding the oldest video on the system. Because of this, once installed and filled to capacity once, the normal status of the hard disk drives in a Pelco DVR is near full or 99.9% at capacity.
