What is the maximum number of cameras one Endura NSM5200 storage pool can record?

Issue

What is the maximum number of cameras one Endura NSM5200 storage pool can record?

Product Line

Pelco Video Management

Environment

Endura NSM5200- All versions

Cause

Information on the number of cameras an NSM5200 can record at once is needed.

Resolution

The maximum number of cameras per storage pool is dependent on the number of NSM5200 units there are in the storage pool. Each NSM5200 can record up to a maximum of 250 Mbps. For example, if the bit rate is 2.0 Mbps per camera, then one NSM5200 can record up to 125 cameras. A storage pool consisting of four NSM5200s, can record up to 500 cameras. But it is recommended that no more than 512 cameras be placed in a pool, regardless of how many NSM5200s there are in the pool.

In the event a catastrophic failure occurs, say one NSM5200 fails, the "Automatic Distributed Load Balancing" will distribute the cameras to other NSM5200s in the pool. Therefore, when designing the storage pool, it is important and highly recommended to build in a storage "cushion" that will accommodate for worst case scenarios.
