Issue

How do I exclude user(s) from accessing certain system features, services, and/or devices on the Endura network?

Product Line

Pelco Video Management

Environment

  • Endura 1.x and 2.x

Cause

User permissions are a very effective way of controlling who can do what on a security system.

Resolution

Giving a permission to a role is granting that role the right to access specific devices and services on the Endura network. By default, a new role
has no permissions associated with it. In creating a new role, you must assign to it a set of permissions to access:
   • System features
   • Services
   • Devices
You also have the option to exclude specific devices from the permission set.

In general, the first step is to decide what system features, services, and/or devices to exclude. Next create a role with limited access to system features, services, and/or devices. Lastly, create a user and assign the user to the role with limited access. For step-by-step instructions, reference section Assigning Permissions on page 46 of the WS5200 Configuration Manual.
