Erase and format media for use with the DX4500/DX4600 Series digital video recorder

How to erase and format media for use with the DX4500/DX4600 Series digital video recorder?

Cause

The DX4500/DX4600 Series will only back up files to the media if it's blank or empty of data. Use the Erase Media to erase data and format the media.

Resolution

Complete the following steps to erase and format media:
 

  1. Log into the DVR as a Power User or Admin

  2. Click on the Menu Icon

  3. Click on the System menu

  4. Press the up/down arrow buttons to highlight the “Backup" option. Using the mouse, click Backup. The Backup settings are displayed.

  5. Connect or insert the backup media.

  6. Select the schedule setting.

    1. On the front panel or remote control, press the up/down arrow buttons to highlight “Schedule”, and then press ENTER. Using the mouse, click the settings box. The settings box changes color.

    2. On the front panel or remote control, press the left/right arrow buttons to display a schedule. Using the mouse, click the settings box. The setting OFF disables the erase media function.

    3. On the front panel or remote control, press ENTER to select the setting. Using the mouse, click Schedule. The settings box changes color.

  7. Repeat the procedure in step 2 to select the desired device.

  8. Start the formatting process.

    1. On the front panel or remote control, press the up/down arrow buttons to highlight “Erase Media”.

    2. On the front panel or remote control, press ENTER. Using the mouse, click “Erase Media”. The “Would you like to erase a media?” dialog box opens.

    3. On the front panel or on the remote control press the left/right arrow buttons to highlight OK, and then press ENTER. Using the mouse, click OK. The “Media formatting is in progress” dialog box is displayed. After the media is formatted, the system displays the “Formatting completed.” dialog box.

    4. On the front panel or remote control, press ENTER. Using the mouse, click OK.
