The DX Series Client crashes after connecting to a DX Series DVR/HVR.

Issue

The DX Series Client error's with a "DXClient.exe has stopped responding" message and closes, this happens after the making the initial connection or once a camera is called up to the display.

Cause

The DX Series Client software is not able to execute due to Microsoft Windows DEP protection (Data Execution Prevention).

Resolution

The DXClient.exe needs to be added to the DEP exception list.
 

  1. Navigate to Control Panel -> System and Security -> System


     
  2. Click on Advanced system settings

     
  3. Click on the Advanced tab, then on the Settings... button.


     
  4. Click on the Data Execution Prevention tab, then on the Add... button.
  5. In the Open window, click on the Look in: drop down and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Pelco\PELCO DX Series Client\Network Client.
  6. Once the Network Client is selected, click the Open button.


     
  7. Highlight the DXClient executable and click Open.
     


     
  8. The DXClient will now be listed in the exception window, click OK to close the window.
