The DX8100 Series boots to a blinking cursor after a system drive replacement.

Issue

The system boots to a black screen with a blinking curser in the upper left corner.

  • DX8100 Recovery Disk v2.0

Cause

Running the partition disk and then the DX8100 recovery disk can sometimes cause bad data in the master boot record.

Resolution

The Partition CD can be used to re-write the master boot record.

  1. Boot from the Partition CD and press N when prompted "Would you like to proceed [Y,N]?"
  2. At the A:\> prompt type gdisk 1 /mbr and press the Enter key.
  3. Eject the partition disk and reboot the recorder.
